An important milestone has been reached on the Rokeby Road – South Arm Road Upgrades project in Tasmania with the release of final designs for the South Arm Road and Acton Road junction in Lauderdale.
This project is jointly funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, each committing $44 million and $11 million respectively.
“Finalising the designs for the South Arm Road and Acton Road intersection is a key step in progressing this project and delivering for Tasmania.
“These upgrades will significantly improve safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, while easing congestion and improving travel times for residents and commuters,” Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Kerry Vincent said.

The junction upgrade will include installing traffic signals at the intersection to improve traffic flow as well as help reduce congestion and provide safer access for all road users.
This project will also improve pedestrian facilities to make it easier to cross the road and connect with local services.
The upgrade’s design was finalised following community consultation on the initial designs earlier this year.
Construction on the South Arm Road and Acton Road junction project is due to commence in mid-2026. The project team will continue to work closely with the community throughout the delivery of this upgrade.
In addition, planning is progressing for the duplication of South Arm Road between Pass Road, Rokeby and Oakdowns Parade.
“This is another example of the Tasmanian Government building infrastructure to support the growth of our communities and facilitate private investment and jobs” Minister Vincent said.
