The delivery of an integrated station and precinct at Sydney Olympic Park is a step closer to reality as Sydney Metro announces three shortlisted consortia to design and construct the new station as well as its surrounding precinct and two buildings adjacent the metro station.

The shortlisted consortia that will tender for the Sydney Olympic Park Integrated Station Development Precinct include:

  • FCC Construction Australia Pty Ltd and Ecove Group Pty Ltd
  • Gamuda Engineering Pty Ltd, Gamuda (Australia) Pty Ltd and MTR Corporation (Australia) Pty Ltd
  • John Holland Pty Ltd and Freecity Group Holdings Pty Ltd

The contract is expected to be awarded in mid-2026.

This development will deliver an integrated precinct and strategically important station on the Sydney Metro network. The new Sydney Olympic Park metro station will provide access to Australia’s premier events, sports and entertainment precinct as well as support its transformation into a thriving urban community.

Once up and running, the new metro station will be able to transit more than 10 million people each year, providing an easy interchange with the planned Parramatta Light Rail, the T7 Olympic Park line, buses and active transport.

This development will help reinvigorate Sydney Olympic Park while also creating a lively new destination where people can live, work and play. In addition, various new dining and retail experiences will significantly enhance the region’s night-time economy.

This project will make Sydney Olympic Park easier to access than ever before with fast and frequent metro services, including a 15-minute trip to Hunter Street in the Sydney CBD.

The new Sydney Olympic Park metro station will feature platforms on both sides of the train to support large crowds as they board and disembark simultaneously – providing increased capacity during events.

The precinct will also be further integrated into Sydney’s broader transport network with connections to other transport modes such as existing train and future light rail services.

Moreover, the integrated station and precinct development will create over 300 new residential dwellings in Sydney Olympic Park, supporting the New South Wales Government’s priorities to increase housing supply.

Separately, planning is underway seeking to amend development plans to provide about 190 additional residential dwellings directly above the new metro station.

The Sydney Olympic Park Integrated Station Development Precinct is part of the Sydney Metro West project, which will deliver a new 24-kilometre underground metro railway to double the capacity of train services between Parramatta and the Sydney CBD.

Sydney Metro West stations have been confirmed at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Hunter Street in the Sydney CBD.

The entire project is estimated to create up to 10,000 direct and 70,000 indirect jobs during its construction phase.

Sydney Metro West is targeted to open in 2032.
