UGL named $100m Reclaimed Water Management Contractor in Shoalhaven

Monica Gameng   |   August 14, 2016

The Shoalhaven City Council has awarded UGL Limited the $100 million contract to deliver part of Stage 1B of the Council’s Reclaimed Water Management Scheme (REMS).

“We are pleased to have been selected by Shoalhaven City Council to deliver this important project in the ongoing sustainable future for the growing Shoalhaven community. An innovative and collaborative approach has been taken between UGL and the Council in relation to the project, and we look forward to working with the Council in successful delivery of Stage 1B of the scheme.” – Ross Taylor, UGL CEO

UGL will be working on the following:

  • Upgrade works on Nowra and Bomaderry sewage treatment plants
  • Design and construct a pipeline under Shoalhaven River which will be connecting the Bomaderry sewage treatment plant to the Nowra sewage treatment plant

Stage 1B of REMS is the largest public works project that the Shoalhaven City Council has undertaken and it has established this project in order to maximise the use of reclaimed water – sewage which has been treated – for beneficial use instead of disposing it into the environment.

“As the largest project undertaken by Shoalhaven City Council, REMS 1B has involved a rigorous tender process that has now been finalised. The review of tenders has been ongoing since February this year and we are pleased to announce that UGL has been selected through this process. We are looking forward to working with UGL to deliver a high quality project and showcase Shoalhaven’s leadership in this field.” – Carmel Krogh, Director of Shoalhaven Water

Work will commence late in August 2016 and is expected to be completed over the next two years.
